Greetings from Queensland

Greetings from Queensland, best described as the California of Australia, sun, surf, sand and rust free vehicles.

There were officially only 249 SVXs delivered to Australia (+ some private imports) so they are somewhat rare and I have 2 of them.

A 92 red/black and a Green 95 bought as a parts car (but I have found it too good so will get it on the road one day).

Back in 1992 my Red sold from $83,000 AUD ($57,000 US) so they were considered luxury cars back then but sadly not so much now.

The previous owner told me the Red was the 99th vehicle sold in Australia, a good story but hard to verify.

I found a crack pipe in the Green one so who knows it's history...

I have been reading a lot of your posts to solve the various problems I have had (Crank sensor, fuel pump failure, Fuel sensor) so this site is a great source of info. I will post a question about fuel sensor but here are a few photos of the cars and work being done.

Re: Greetings from Queensland

Welcome! And greetings from California.

Congrats on the cars. So few cars sent to Australia, but almost all the Australians I know are familiar with the car. Seems to have a strong cult status over there.

All the best with the cars!

Cheers,
Ian.

Re: Greetings from Queensland

Thanks for the welcome Ian.

I have to admit I had no idea what an SVX was when I first saw it and I have been driving Subaru's for 25yrs!

I just happened to follow the Red one though my town one day and saw this low and wide thing with Subaru on the back and those weird windows.

An internet search later and I was hooked.

I was going to stalk the owner but a month after, there was the car in a local park with a For Sale sign on it!

The Green one was on Facebook and located 10mins from where I live!

Somewhat incredible that out of 249, 2 were found so close to my place.

Re: Greetings from Queensland

Welcome to our SVX family SVX99. I recently had the pleasure of meeting and driving around a fellow Aussie SVXer when he came here for our Reading SVX Meet. His name is Garth McDonald. He knows a lot about the mechanics of SVXes. Send me your e-mail address and I will send you his.

Re: Greetings from Queensland

Thanks LarryIII but I already know Garth McDonald as he lives in Queensland as well.

He is actually the Backyard Mechanic wearing the overalls in the photo!
