Help- need manual tranny info

Does anyone know where I can find info on the manual trannies used by Subaru? It appears that they had basically 1 5-speed used in almost everything for a long time.

I'm about ready to swap my 1992 SVX's toasted auto for a 5-speed, and I'm looking for a good donor car. I'm pretty sure the Legacy will work, as well as the Impreza, although I'm not sure about the earlier years. Any other possible donors?

The older models(Loyal, GL, RX, XT) had a different bell housing and won't work. has to be out of an Impreza, Legacy, or Forester.

What model years would you define as "older"? Legacys date back into the early '90's or before.

All Impreza, Legacy, or Forester trannys will bolt up, but nothing from the 80's back will work.
