Hello to all. I have been reading posts for about 2 months and find the info exchange wonderful. Hope I can contribute in the future.

I am a new member to the club but not to SVX's. I am on my third. Had a Green 95 LSI bought new. Did the rotor and bearing thing otherwise no issues over 77,000 miles.Had a chance to buy a 3 year old Red 97 LSI from my local dealer with under 16,000 miles and jumped at it. I sold the 95 to my son and within 2,000 miles the tranny went. Crashed and totaled the 97 after 7 months and my wife and I have been looking for another the last six months. Couldn't stay away any longer. We just love the car, problems and all.

Found a Burgundy 94 LSI with 112,000 in late May. Great shape interior and body good except road pits from a lot of highway miles. I knew brakes were bad and suspected bearings but trans seemed ok. Bearings turned out okay.

I have put on ART cryo rotors and carbon pads front and rear, new Yokohama AVSdbs, had the rims powder coated and new center caps matched color perfectly. I bought all new L & R front corner and headlights, grill and 1 LR tailight, and new exhaust tips. New side emblems of course and I have a fellow worker in Japan this week getting me a new Japanese hood emblem.

I have some concerns about the tranny and expect it won't be long. Level 10 did the 94 for my son but we had issues and it took over 3 months to get it right. I won't go back there.

Car is going in for a complete paint job on Saturday, original color. Shop will remove all lights and trim, including door handle assemblies, rearview mirrors, F & R bumpers etc so no paint overspray on any trim or on tight fit pieces. Hood and front fenders will be pulled and stripped.

We have had other subarus. All were new, an Outback Wagon, Forester, and now a Outback Sedan Limited. All from the same dealer. During a test drive many years ago on an Impreza I hit a deer with the salesman in the car with $1200 damage. Dealer insurance tried to twist my arm to pay but they lost.

This a lot for a first post. I will be shorter in the future. You probably guessed by my logon we are in Northern NJ.

Two questions though.

I tried Network threads, keywords and Internet battery sites but could not find equivalent to Subaru recommended remote control battery Tandy CN8/27A, the 1 piece. Anyone know what available equivalent would be?

Anyone interested in the lights? They are quite yellow and I may try to clean them up with a product I found called BLUEMAGIC, Plastic and Plexiglass Cleaner. Claims to remove haze from convertible rear windows, and restores optical clarity.

How are the AVS dBs? Are they s2 models? The Tandy/Radioshack battery is still available. I just bought one about 2 months ago. Good luck with the paint job. It sounds like how I intend to have it done. Cheers,

Welcome to the site.

The remote batteries that you want are from Radio Shack - GP-27A (keyless remote) batteries. They look like miniature AAA batteries and replace those button batteries perfectly. They are a lot cheaper (2 for about $1.79). Good luck

There are several products that work as well. One is Eagle Brand - Small Scratch Remover. It will remove the yellow and make the lights look clear again. You will however need to do it again in a couple of months to keep them clear. The will continue to yellow.

The tire are the S2. Feel great and are pretty quiet on asphalt but louder on concrete. I had the earlier AVSdbs on my prior SVX and they were quieter and agreat tire for feel and cornering.

Thanks for battery number. I thought they might be right when I was searching but your confirmation helped. I got them and they fit fine. One remote now works from about 15 feet away instead of 2 feet. The other still does not work. I tried reprogramming but that did nothing. It appears to be older one of the two as the butoon is worn. I will clean it out as next step and see. Thanks again.

There are 2 buttons on each remote.It is located just under the red one.You can't see it unless you take it apart but it is there. Try reprogramming it again using that one.

I checked the older remote to see if I needed to clean contact points and found I had put the battery in backwards. On this small battery both ends had a button of nearly the same size, not one nearly flat end and protruding button on the other. Button end usually means + end. In this case one buttton, - end is flush with the battery end and the + end button protrudes a bit as normal. I should read markings rather than standard visual cues. Anyway it works fine from 25 feet away. I did not even have to reprogram it.

A "butoon" is what you get from fat fingers trying to fast on a key board.
