T-belt cover gasket
Noticed a few drops of oil dripping from the bottom of my engine and they appear to be coming from the gasket around the timing belt cover (I think it's part #6 in this diagram http://www.subaruparts.com/diag/?mod...category=022-A). The leak has since stopped but there is a chip missing from the gasket. I have never had the timing belt cover off so I'm not sure exactly what's in there, is this a possible source of the leak or not? I know it's not from the oil filter, so if its not this gasket what else could it be?

It's not the timming cover but whats behined it, the crank seal and or cam seals. Very common prob., make a search I'm sure you'll find much info.

Agreed - if you replace the timing cover gasket it will last for 2 weeks before it swells from all the oil its holding and pukes it all back out again. I know - I tried. Check into the cam and crank seals, they are usually the source of the leak.

If the car has more than 100,000 miles, you may want to consider changing the timing belt, water pump, oil pump and crank seal while you have it all apart. Doug

Actually
My car has 87k. The previous owner had kept record of what mileage maintainance was done, timing belt was done at 61k, water pump at 30k, oil pump and crank seal have not been done to my knowledge. Should I still change them? From searching I think I could do the cam seal job and the water pump myself although I'm not sure about the belt. Is there much difference between the cam seal job and the crank? How hard is the oil pump to do? Any tricks besides the belt wrench to get the pulley off?

Oh boy
Yet another wonderful SVX experience. The leak has since stopped so I think I'm gonna hold out a while since its kind of early to do the timing belt already so that I can just do all of it at once (plus time is at a minumum right now). Next oil change I'll switch to GTX high mileage (right now I'm using a synthetic blend) and hope that'll keep the leak under control until atleast 100k. Thanks for the part numbers!

Anything else
So I'll need a timing belt(13028AA120), oil pump(15010AA133), oil pump o-ring(806919050), water pump(21111AA033), cam oil seal x2(806732150), and crank oil seal(806733030)...anything else? Any idea how much it would be to have a dealer do all of this?
