5spd swap

Clutch is ordered got a ACT. Flywheel is getting surfaced, drivline lengthened. I should be able to pick everything up by Thursday.

FYI the driveline shop *said* they would have no problem lengthening the 1 peice driveline. Hope they are right.

Got the differential torn apart ready for reassembly with the new gears.

Hay both you doing cable oper. trannys?

I'm doing hydro. just looking for feed back on other swapers.
Right now waiting on pedal assembly from wreckyard to find out where the master will come out.

Any way just keep an open line on progress.

Yup going cable here. I just don't care for the feel (or lack of) that a hydro gives. But on the other hand, it sure makes for an easy clutch.

Rear diff is set up and installed. I had a guest speaker all day teaching my class so I snuck into the shop and put the differential together.

Came home tonight and installed it. 4:11s can't wait!

Remember guys if you are installing used gears, make sure the gear tooth contact stays the same. So take a print before disassembly and remember that so you can match it on reassembly. I got lucky and just used the same shims. It was fine.

One of the Subaru Techs from appleton is doing it for him on weekends at the techs house. Brandon has been helping him out a little, mostly just motivation. He told me today they are putting in the amsoil synthetic gearlube this weekend and then it will be ready to roll.

Act blows monkeys

I wouldnt use ACT in my gokart. I had an ACT in my conversion, hated it. If you want a real clutch go with Centerforce DF

never driven a car with a centerforce. I can tell you from
experience, Ive used both, the Centerforce is way better
in design and feel etc. Not to mention I use to sell ACcrap thru
my store, and had nothing but problems with them and
complaints from my own customers. In time youll feel the same, and if you ever decide to go Centerforce, youll never go back to the ac-junk

On what terms are you speaking???? Daily driver or race? I wanted a centerforce but was concerned that the DF was race only. What is your experience.

I get to drive my SVX every day in the city!

by all means

For everday use the Centerforce is hands-down the better street-strip racing clutch. Its purposely has a softer pedal feel for everyday driving. The others brands are like pushing on a brick wall. DF just has a better designed patented disc design for hi-performance driving.

Just got my pedels today going to install them tomorow.
I think the hydralic trannys are stronger at least the clutches are why else would Subaru use cable in the older Legacys but switch to hydralic it the Turbo Legacys (using 91 Turbo tranny myself) and the WRX's all have hydralic. There is also two types of hydralic, push type that operates like the cable clutches, and pull type that actually pulls on the throwout bearing, I'm not shure why but the pull type seems to be the stronger of the two because that what they used on the Turbo Legacys and still use on the WRX,s while the OutBacks and Imprezas use the push type.
Any way I'v got 3.90s in mine, my Legacy wagons got 4.11s in it and it dosn,t cruise on the highway so well, like 3,700rpm's at 80mph.
