Re: Ceika Coilovers Summary

I think he said he'll only give the discount if we all buy the type 1M kit, which is $1080. It's difficult to choose... And I believe the AMR's are $1600 PLUS shipping.

OK, so Ceiko is $1080 + $200 shipping - $100 discount =$1180 total
SteveHerman's quote about AMR: "basically he said there are those for 1400 (cuz shipping was 200) or his for 1300 NOW... our choice."
That was in September. It went up $300 since then?

The warranty and the 'made in USA' sounds more inviting.

Re: Ceika Coilovers Summary

I'm not entirely sure, you'd have to ask AMR. I don't know which is a better option at this point. It seems that both are definitely feasible. It all really depends on what level of quality you want at this point.

Re: Ceika Coilovers Summary

I sent an invite to the rep at Ceika to come on our forum and give us more information on their product. He has done this on other forums, so this could help us with our choices I'll keep you updated.

Re: Ceika Coilovers Summary

I have a set of the Ceika coilovers, and I was one of the original people to order them who went through the "breaking in" process of straightening out the improper fit. I still haven't installed them, though. The nice part is that they allow extenders for the rear shock damping adjustment. That way, the adjustment can be made from in the trunk, rather than having to remove the rear deck every time you make an adjustment. Very cool!

I am excited to install them, and I'm hoping to have Nate put them on for me in the next month or so when I get my SVX out of storage for the summer.

Additionally, the build quality, and the fit and finish is fantastic. Aside from these positives, there are some major negatives. It took literally forever to receive them. It was so long that I actually felt that I would never get them. That combined with the fact that the communication with Cedric at Ceika became quite sporadic. I did eventually receive them, though, and the communication regarding getting the measurements right was a lot faster. I also received the replacement top mounts very quickly.

Re: Ceika Coilovers Summary

I just replaced my Koni inserts under warranty on one of my SVX's but you can count me in for the other SVX when the group buy is finalized. Also interested in the BBK but would like more info on the parts used.

Re: Ceika Coilovers Summary

Also Mike, and I think it has to do with the fact that they're getting their name out there, shipping now only takes 4-5 days. Total build time should be about a month to your door.

Re: Ceika Coilovers Summary

I've made my decision. I'm going to buy a set of these. I don't have time to wait for a group buy, but I will tell them that one member from here will purchase them. I'm just going to get the cheapest kit, I don't have the money for anything more right now. I will keep everyone posted with updates and with a final install as well!

Re: Ceika Coilovers Summary

Quick comparison of the Ceika vs. AMR coilovers.

Seems like the Ceikas have more coils = much firmer spring rate, whereas the AMR more closely resembles the OEM configuration as far as smooth ride..

The AMR's appear to be better engineered though.

More coils doesn't necessarily mean better spring rate. The metal's elasticity and thickness of the coil determines that. They may both be the same spring rate for all we know. (Then again, we could just ask the people who supplied those pictures what their spring rates are )

Re: Ceika Coilovers Summary

When I ordered mine, I requested that the ride be as close to stock as possible. Assuming they stuck with that request, that's what my pictures should reflect. They did get my other requests correct, so I have no reason to believe they didnt get this right. I'll hopefully be installing these in the next month, so I'll keep everybody posted.
