OG Hyperdrive at Summit Point

Just seeing how many people know about this. Hyperfest is an annual event held at Summit Point Motorsports Park, this will be the 12th one. Lots of public events and such http://www.hyper-fest.com/.

The OG Hyperdrive is an HPD Clinic held at the Jefferson circuit which is a shorter, slower course that I think would suit the SVX much better than Shenandoah or the Main.

The cost for this is only $40 instead of the normal ~$350 for a regular HPDE weekend. Pre-registration is closed already but there should be spots available still at the event. http://www.hyper-fest.com/?page_id=299

My brother convince me to give it a try. He does HPDE's several weekend throughout the summer and has run all three courses there. Last month I went with him when he ran the Main and got a half-hour ride with his instructor in a full race-prepped 944. I think I'm hooked, have to find a more appropriate track car now. Until then, and while it's this cheap, I'm going to do this Hyperdrive event.

Who else is wlling to try it? It'd be cool to have a good SVX representation there.

Hyperfest starts tomorrow. Anyone else gonna try to go? It'd be nice to have some more SVXi out there.

It's awesome isn't it. Sure got me hooked. Which track were you on?

I'm probably gonna be leaving today and stay with my brother in Frederick tonight. Can I stop by to get my camera mount out of the racer? And I'll get a switch to put in it too while I'm there.

Re: OG Hyperdrive at Summit Point

Hey Tom

It was my pleasure to take you out for a leisurely tour of the track We're planning to do it again sometime in the next month or two, so hopefully you can make it back down for some more fun. If you want to get some people from the club together and make a little mini-meet out of it, we could certainly arrange passenger seat time for all.

We raced the ReVolvolution Racing Volvo 850 on Shenandoah this weekend in the 24 Hours of LeMons race and finally finished, after blowing up engines there for the last two years (we are 2-0 AWAY from Summit Point, now 1-2 AT Summit Point). We completely babied the car yesterday in the interest of keeping it alive, but today decided to just wail on it and picked up about 20 places to finish 54th out of 120+. Having seen the track with six cars on it, I'll leave it to your imagination to picture it with 120 something. The wrecker and ambulances were busy, but no serious injuries and a whole lot of fun.

If anyone from the SVX community is interested in trying out a track day sometime but doesn't know where to start, shoot me an email at mike@mikewirt.com and I'll get you pointed in the right direction. I instruct with pretty much every club/group out there at this point, and would love to help you get hooked on performance driving.

-Mike
