Wiring Diagram help?
Can someone with the wiring diagram give me the wire colors for the illumination circuit for either the mirror control or the "parking light/mirror heater" switch?
I'm looking for the wire that dims the ground with the dash illumination. Thanks...

Re: Wiring Diagram help?
Dave
Are you sure the lights in those switches dim with the dash light dimmer control? I'll have to check, but I thought those lights stayed constant? Joe

Re: Wiring Diagram help?
Just Checked. Sorry I doubted you.
On our cars here the mirror direction control lights, up, down, right, left, they are part of the dimmer circuit. The one that stays constant is the green light on the driver's window switch. I can't help I'm afraid, as the couple of diagrams I have don't mention the mirror control switch. Otherwise any signal wires coming from the dimmer circuit look to be listed orange, and the earths are all black. Joe

Re: Wiring Diagram help?
The diagram you are looking for is in the online manual. Look under "wiring Diagrams" on page 10, grid E-30 at the far right. It looks like the red wire from fuse 9 is the power lead and the red/black that goes to the instrument cluster is the dimming control. Dont quote me though

Re: Wiring Diagram help?
That's correct.
On Subaru's service manual (chapter 6-3, "WIRING DIAGRAM AND TROUBLESHOOTING"), it's in section 20, "LIGHTING (TAIL LIGHT-ILLUMINATION LIGHT-etc.) SYSTEM", Fig. 4. (page 40 in Subaru's PDF). The Red wire gets +12V from fuse 9 when the Lighting switch is on (either parking or headlights). The Red/Black wire gets the variable voltage from the dimmer knob circuit (from the Time Control Module). It varies from +12V (dimmest) to nearly 0V (brightest). This is the "low side" (what everyone calls "ground" even though it really isn't). These two lines light up nearly all of the backlighting on the instrument panel, clock, A/C, ash tray, radio, CD deck, and gear shift console. The glove box light (with its door-switch) connect between the Red wire and ground (i.e., no dimming). I searched, but couldn't find the backlight in the driver's window switch panel in the diagrams.
