The Venom is one of the few computer modules that actually does anything in the other car group I am a part of, the probe community, but even then, gains have only ever been noticed in automatic cars.

I think this is more just a tranny modifier computer, I mean basically it downshifts sooner...stuff like that. Even the people that hav ehad it said it didn't really do much, but I'm just surprised to see it even listed for the SVX.

I'm not actually interested IN it, but it is interesting that it exists.

Essentially it modifies the airflow signal and the throttle signal. Probably just a couple of resistors inside the box.

As far as the TCU is concerned, the modified throttle signal will make it change down earlier. The TCU decides when to shift based on comparing thottle with speed. The device makes the TCU think that the throttle is open more than it really is.

For the ECU, fuel and timing are calculated by looking at the airflow and rpm. The device modified the airflow signal to make the ECU think that there is more air than there actually is and therefore the ECU will add more fuel.

That's the theory. However, the ECU and TCU are a lot more complex than that. It is not a simple linear relationship. Supplying bad input data to their calculations is very unlikely to give the output that you want.

As everybody has noted, it's a piece of junk.

It's not the same thing as the PerfectPower SMT6 is it? That thing is actually effective. It may not do so much for a stock car, but if you've got breathing mods, it can make a big difference.
