I wonder...

If you dumped SO much money into a machine like that, WHY oh WHY would you keep the 4spd auto, even if it was rebuilt for racing?? I'd think a 5spd auto or a manual of any type rebuilt for dragging would be a much better choice... Am I missing an unknown potential of our crappy tranny's?

Yea its strange, but this isnt the first subie i've heard/read of using, or backwards-swapping in the automatic trans. Maybe something to do with more consistent drag times? less gears = more go?

Wasn't there some drama with this car? Something like a shop built the car, then one of the workers quit and kept it? It doesn't even run anyways, probably never will.

In drag racing with a high powered car an automatic is usually the best route to take.
No missed shifts, easier on the driveline, more consistant.
As to only 4 gears... look at the popular automatics in drag racing. They are usually 2 or 3 speeds.

Auto's are better in Drag cars... Search for video of the ESX drag WRX... It's an auto... Hell, most high power drag cars are Autos...

Ad says it has a Tony Rigoli built SVX automatic. Rigoli has shops all over the world and a great racing reputation. I'd be interested in knowing just what he did to this particular SVX automatic transmission. And which shop did the work - Australia, Belgium, Israel, Ukraine, etc.? If he parts it out somebody buy that transmission and lets have a look.

why auto?

Fewer shifts in which you lose inertia... and more consistent performance

...never really got the whole story on this car... but someone got hosed

now...they want 800 for the motor...Did they actually DO anything to it though? 800 seems a reasonable price for a rebuilt motor.Either it's using stock bits, which would never work with the turbos...or you could luck out and gert a race prepped engine. might be worth buying just to see
