Clicking when i turn..

Hey, so my 92 svx is having a problem. It seems as though when I make left turns the car clicks a lot. Someone told me it could be the Axel; another said it might be the wheel bearings. I believe its coming from the front end......I priced the axels and the bearings together and to replace the parts alone is about $500.....I’m trying to eliminate replacing something I don’t have to and was looking to the masters here for help. Seriously though, if anyone has had this problem with an SVX and might know the remedy please oblige.

Thanks again,
Bill N.

"Clicking" sound on sharp turns sounds like a worn outer CV joint on the front axle. Usually the sound is loudest on the joint opposite of the turning direction.

You can get high quality replacement axles a lot cheaper from http://www.raxles.com

Raxles CV axles come complete with NEW joints, and a limited lifetime warranty. They ship you a rebuilt axle and charge you a core charge. When you return your old axle to them, they refund your core charge. Many members here have used these axles, and they are far cheaper than OEM new ones.

I agree with svxcess. You can do much better on the price with an aftermarket. I got mine from Fisher Auto parts and it came with a life time warrenty. The cost was about 80.00 dollars plus core which is refunded.

You could also try Advance Auto Parts, Auto Zone, or even Pep Boys. The parts work good even if the counter people do not .

CV joint but just doing the whole axle is easier and usually within 10-20 dollars anyways.

true story replace the whole thing. it is so much easier. plus lets just say the outer boot is bad and u just replace it the inner is not to far behind in failing. so buy two new boots and reconstuct the whole thing.(pain in ass and a big mess) or spend a little more cash and its all done for u. just pull out and put in. simple.
