Sorry it took so long to get these. I think it was worth the wait.
They're big pictures! Shrink 'em it you want to.

Drift (I'm proud of this one.)

I love that first pic as you can see your car approaching the corner and then kicking out the rear! Your driving technique was also right on as you're turning into the slide (like you're supposed to)...

NICE!!!

Hmmmm..... Questions arise over that first pic... I have been in two drifts with my SVX, one of which I didn't survive. the first was with the stock suspension. believe me the suspension compresses ALL THE WAY down before you start to drift with the stock suspension. I think that by the way your car is leaning that you just pulled out of the gravel from the left infront of the other car. Plus that "smoke" looks alot like dust from gravel... Yep, I'd say that that really isn't a drift. If it was then there is some wierd physics going on with your car, some that don't really exist, especially if your car really is stock...

GreenMarine, you are quite observant. I confess that it wasn't a nice, fat, sweeping drift, perfectly controlled, gracefully arcing all the way through the corner - I just kicked the rear out a little and my friend with the camera was quick enough to catch it. In fact, he tells me that the smoke was already starting to blow away and that the picture was taken as the wheels started to hook up.

I should probably update my signature. I have lots of anti-sway, (among some other goodies,) but my shocks are stock. The corner was not particularly smooth, so I bounced around a little bit. Anyway, it was nothing special, but I did have the rear kicked out. I have Michelin Pilot Cups for tires. Sticky like glue, but if you somehow manage to get them to let go, they smoke like crazy.

As for those other cars. They have the same driver, same license plate, and the same backwards wheels. I took the last picture, (the one with the smoke,) and then overlaid the preceding pictures, showing the course I traveled. I was following a yellow Volkswagen Corrado which is not visible in the last picture, but would have been visible in the first two had I not trimmed it out. The only photochopping was the adding of the two "other" SVXs.

Those other SVXi were photoshopped?? That's a pretty good job... I would have never known that they were photochopped... Only thing that I thought was wierd was how the "second SVX" was kinda close to you if you were really able to kick the tail out...

Oh well, if you say that the tail was out I can debate all I want, but you are the only one that knows the truth...so since you recoverd from that one I would like to offer alittle advice. DON'T DO IT AGAIN!!! You may not be so lucky the next time, just as I was. The SVX has "snap oversteer tendancy's. The charticts are alot like that of a porsche 911 from the mid 90's. Once the tail gets out, there is nothing to do. I only say what I say because the pain of seeing your baby wrecked is too much for me to bear again Don't want you to have to go through the same thing

This car will probably be the death of me, but I don't care. I'm rather familiar with oversteer behavior, but the SVX makes it challenging because the transfer clutch keeps screwing with the natural balance of the car. The truth is, it was a pretty wimpy drift, as I didn't come into it with much speed at all. It took a sharp swing and some hard braking to get the tail out. (It was the decreasing radius corner further down the road that got my adrenaline flowing. It takes a lot of balls to stay on the throttle at 65mph as you pass what should be the apex with your tires crabbing.)

Follow Grand Coulee Hill Rd to the south. (Just scroll down.) The name of the road is actually Almira, but MapQuest lists it as the Old Grand Coulee Wilbur Highway, and Yahoo lists it as Grand Coulee Hill Road. This road is awesome. I've been up and down it dozens of times and it's better than a racetrack because of the elevation changes. If you're ever in the area...
