Unhappy Weared CV-joints ...

Hi!
I has just been told, by Subaru service, that my outer CV-joints are weared down.
My question is: Can I just replace the joints? , or must I replace the whole axle?, If I just can replace the joints,
are they replaceable with Legacy, Impreza joints ? ... or ?

Yes you can just replace the joint.

In the US I believe most people find it more convenient to replace the whole axle (many parts stores sell them for around $65 as a rebuilt unit).

I can't answer for interchangeability.

Thanx 4 the info lee, I don't know where I heard that there exists 2 variants of axles, one wich you could take apart, and one you could not.

You don't need to apologise to Rob, Sonar, we don't know how good his Swedish grammar may be!

Smile Exploding parts

Have a look at the drawing on this page at Subaruparts.com, Sonar. They are for a 1992, so if yours is a later year, check the correct page for your year.

If only part of the above comes over as a link, then highlight and copy the complete string, and paste into the address line.

Check out www.raxles.com. Great prices, great axles, great service. No core charge, free core return shipping.

And it's a job that can be done by an average driveway mechanic with a descent set of tools.

Thanx 4 all input!

-But.......the subaru reseller (wich I bought my car from) , called me today and told me that I have 2 brand new CV-joints to come and pick up for FREE!
The only catch was that I have to replace them myself!
-I agreed ... (in a split second)

-Whatta catch ...

Thumbs up

Nice one Sonar.

You seem to have very rare animals never before encountered in the wild in Sweden.

Nice Dealers!
