rear speaker install
i just found this site a couple of days ago, i dont know what i was thinking i should have looked on the net a long time ago. this forum has a vast amount of information about the SVX. i am trying to replace my 6x9s, i have them ordered and took a look in the trunk today. i tried to remove the top cover with the grills, but it wouldnt come out. it seems like i need to remove the whole side rear panel, not just unscrew it, is this true? does anybody have an sugestions, any help would be great thanx

You could do a search for it. But here's the gist of it:
- Remove rear seat bottom - Unscrew side panel - Fold down back seats - Slide top deck out - Find a way to unscrew the back screws of the speakers (squeeze wrench worked real good...) - Replace speakers - If new speakers hit the grills, mount them from the bottom. Lots more detail if you look it up...but that's the general procedure, it's really not that hard.

Or...just noticed you were in chicago. We could meet up and I could help you out if you need it.
I'm in Arlington Heights, right by St. Viator, and St. James.

I took the whole side panel out. It comes out easily.
There are these little levers under the rear seat that if you pull on it will let the rear cushion come out. It will expose another set of screws on the side panel that you unscrew, and then you can take out the whole piece.

Check my locker
I've got pictures of the entire process. I didn't have to remove the rear seat bottom. Definitely get yourself a "bent" screwdriver (the one I used is in one of the pics) and make sure to line your seat belt brackets up before you screw the side panels back in.
Good luck! -Bill
