Angry Wtf????

Got a call from the tranny shop this morning.. They say I need a new tranny because they can't get the front diff apart from the tranny and install it back in without a special tool?? This car is really starting to **** me off now As soon as I get this car fixed, it's going up on the block.. 2 transmissions in 33k miles is totally unacceptable

Hey, sorry to hear about your tranny. Looks like a really nice car otherwise. Would you please give me info on your wheels? Exact size, cost, where purchased, etc., would be nice! I live in Rochester, but also have a place in Alma, NY!

Tim,

Thanks.. We never did meet up did we? I got those rims from www.tirerack.com They're Konig Traffik's 16x7.. They were $100 each shipped. If you want to get together for a little mini meet, let me know! I'll have to bite the bullet and get a new tranny installed..

I've put 30k on my transmission without signs of failure. And I drive hard. Go to another shop.

Davie, the transmission that was put in was a Subaru reman'd tranny.. I had that installed the first month I owned my car. Now that failed, and I took it to a specialized tranny shop locally this time..

IMHO, I would guess you seriously need to find a new tranny shop. When my front diff failed I had the shop combine a used transaxle with good diff/bad pump and another used transaxle with bad diff and good pump (and they added new clutches/solenoids, etc). If the shop you go to hasn't the tools to handle a FWD/AWD transaxle they need to change their name.

Thanks for the info on your rims; what size tires are on them?

Mark,
You've done too much with the car to abandon it now. Hang in there and don't give up. I don't recall a "special tool" in the list of special tools for getting the front diff off the tranny, but, I'll check tonight.

Like I said, just hang in there.

Tim, They're stock size, but if you go with the ims, you may want to go with 215's.. There was some rubbing problems in the back end, but a little trimming of the plastic in the fenderwell cleaned that right up easily.. The tires bulge out more with the narrower rims, but handling doesn't seem to be affected much if at all..

Randy, yeah I know, I've done a lot to this thing, but I can't afford to keep it anymore... Want a real evil twin?

They're Konig Traffik's 16x7.. They were $100 each shipped.

I couldn't find anything like 'em at the Tire Rack.com.
I really want to order them ASAP though, can you post all the info
possible? Maybe they're no longer available?

Much Thanks!
Tim

Zeppelin, once you get an SVX running right, it's possible to experience many trouble free miles. I was fortuante enough to get one in good shape and so far, I've spent very little on the car. If you feel that all the major mechanical issues have been taken care of, you may want to reconsider.
Just a thought.
