Brake warning light ON ... what's wrong?

Last week I parked my car with the parking brake set. When I came back I forgot to release the brake lever. when I pumped on the gas I noticed the difference, then I stopped and released the brake lever immediately. The car seemed to accelerate fine after that but the "BRAKE!" light remained "ON".

I stopped and checked the brake but noticed nothing wrong with it. I tried to push and release the brake pedal many times but the light remained ON although the brake still worked well. I checked the brake fluid, ...__> Full.... So, I drove home with the thought that It's maybe just the switching problem.

The next morning when I started the car. Surprisingly, the light was Gone. phew! That's great!

However, in the evening of the same day the "Brake" light 's ON again when I got in the car after about 6 hrs parking at school. From then, the Light's continued to be ON then OFF weirdly. In the morning it's ON, then after driving for while it 's OFF, and then after parking it's ON ... And now it really scares me when it's been on for all day long...

What's wrong? Any hints? What part of tthe brake should I check? ....

Thanks a lot for any help!

TONY

Add a few drops of brake fluid. The light will turn off.

There is also a problem with the rubber bladder in the brake fluid cap When it get cold out the bladder gets stiff and pushes on the float in the fluid bowl. This can turn on the light A few member have just pushed the bladder up into the cap to prevent this However the real problem is that the rubber is old and a new cap should be used. See if your problem occurs when it's cold out
