Even when mine are sanded they still look yellow, they are clear but noticably discolored. The grill is not helping matters either. It is all very frustrating.

The small car lenses look good but I am not comfortable taking on that installation process. The HIDS are on the "someday" list.

I think that a gloss black grille on your Silver would look sharp!
Freeman painted the grille opn his Pearlie, and it looks GREAT!

For 1992 technology they are pretty advanced and as good as anything out today. I'd say they are as good as the HID headlights in my 2006 STi, as far as light quality and output. But I have a pretty low mile 1997 model SVX. And the STi's HIDs are aimed low and HID light quality is really not that great for road illumination... the color temp is too high.

So to say the SVX lights "suck" is pretty funny...

I plan to go with a 97 grille eventually. I actually like the waterfall better, but the 97 avoids the yellowing issue.

I may give the gloss black paint a try in the interim, what the hell.

Yes the technology was very advanced, but why pick a 9006 bulb?
The 9005 has 1700 lumins, 70% more...
The higher color temp the less lumins.
When I have to drive some of my customers GMs with 8000-12000K, night driving is absolutely dangerous!

What do you pay for the glass set?

Re: Where can I get new headlights?

Ours point slightly to the left - so may not be suitable for your market - but I do have a set of USA (plastic) ones - I was kind of hoping to "install" the fog lamps into my original NZ set (we do not get that option here, but can see no way of opening up the glass to remove the metal barrier where lamps & fittings would go?.

Re: Where can I get new headlights?

If you could get German glass headlights, they will point the same as ours.

After wet sanding, did you blast them with a few coats of clearcoat to seal and protect them? After running 3 to 4 coats then wetsanding the final application they look great.
