I have never replaced the bearings. I have just changed the idler itself.
Get that thing fixed and come over to the Dabob Seafood Meet this Saturday! We are going to have 12+ cars here and a rally on Sat. Great fun, SVX fun, and lots to eat.

Re: Idler pully for alternator and power sterring belt?
The adjustment bracket is not pressed in to the idler pulley but may become lodged over time. Remove the nut and washer on the face of the idler bearing and then remove the idler bearing along with the adjuster. Take a punch or a large screwdriver and remove the adjuster by striking the adjuster shaft at the center of the bearing, it should come out easily. after you remove the adjuster clean it up with a wire brush and it should slide easily into the new bearing.

Wasn't really meant for him but for anyone else that does a search of the same problem in the future.
