Re: fuel pump removal

The piece with the horse-shoe shaped cut-out is a cover, with clip-shaped corners that have to be carefully pried loose/up to release the 3 separate pieces for removal. Driver's side metering unit must come out first before there is room for the passenger side metering unit, and finally the pump to come out. This is a pita to finagle out, and a major pita to reinstall BTW, all while sniffing hi-test fumes and thinking about sparks. This is a good time to examine and meter the potentiometer resistance of the metering units if your gauge has been misbehaving, like most, and the reason most owners just live with the behavior. Good luck to ya!
