Re: pics from mid-5MT swap on the lemons car

Perhaps if you tried it through a standard lens and not the fisheye?

Actually its just barrel distortion from the 10-22mm lens. Ultra wide angle, but not fisheye

Re: pics from mid-5MT swap on the lemons car

lol dirty much!?
Gosh I thought mine looked bad during my drawn out very problem prone 5spd conversion!

lol good luck! It's definitely not for the faint of heart, but I basically learned most of what I know about auto mechanics (or at least my biggest stepping stone) by doing my 5 speed conversion!

A lot of the guys on here really know what they are doing and for them they could probably do it in a day! (exaggerating)

Keep going though, it's definitely a huge reward driving it when you are done! I literally felt like I was driving a new car, it really opens up the potential of the motor! I felt like it had a lot more torque!

PS: my conversion was before the day of tom's wonderful kit and such.... so it could be worse... a lot more people have done it now and a lot more people are there that can answer your questions. = ) good luck!

With our kit, my 92 Ebony's swap was done in a matter of a few hours.

Re: pics from mid-5MT swap on the lemons car

sadly, the $500 budget doesn't allow for the kit. I was remarking that doing this and worrying about making it look nice would be the worst ! I managed to beat the firewall/cowl into submission with a sledge to get the clutch master cyl to clear, and somewhat hung the pedals. Though they are not done, but man, what a PITA. Next is the trans crossmember. Also I already set-up the rear, but it has to put it in.

Also, the car has been sitting there since the race last July. The garage is over 100yrs old, so it gets pretty dusty.

Nice job with the facepalm.jpg on the back... frequent /o/ much?

I contemplated LeMons for my free SVX but the "option to crush one car" rule scares me. Good luck with the swap, and be sure to give us a write up on how the racing goes!

Re: pics from mid-5MT swap on the lemons car

My swap took around 26 hours of solid work.

I would imagine its WAY more straight forward with the kit. at least 5 hours was setting up the pedal box/clutch, and another 5 hours for the crossmember, and an hour or two for the shifter.

Blech. Welding on your back under a car sucks.

The most important tip I can give you is that when you're pushing on something that won't %#&$ing fit, do it with an open palm so that when it finally goes in, and/or your hand slips off, you don't take all the skin off your knuckles.
