O/T - What's the best for bonding rubber to metal
I have a project item I'm building for my son and I want to bond a metal piece to each side of a rubber bushing. There will be very little, if any, pulling tension, but I need it to stay secure as possible.
Anybody know what the factory does to get things like the rear tranny mount to bond rubber to metal? |

The plates are molded in on mounts, etc. Weatherstrip adhesive, such as 3M part #8001 (known in the trade as gorilla snot or baby s**t) should work well, however it is yellow, so if appearance is a factor most any contact cement intended for use with rubber should work as well.

Better Idea
Here is a really good idea if you dont ever want it to come apart. Take some Duramix 40/40 from a local body shop. That stuff will hold anything trust me. They glue cars together with it!!
Good luck |
