Wouldn't it be easier to get to from under the car?
Dayle - thanks for taking the picture, I didn't even realize there was yet another PS hose back there.

I should have mine up on a lift in the next two weeks (finally getting around to installing the powder coated calipers from Doug! ) so I'll take a look.

to cut it in half and then removed it in 2 pcs's.
Slid on the new hose, tightened the clamps and was done.
Good luck
Mine seems to look a little bit different than yours. Is it this hose that says power steering on it or is it below that?
Thanks.

I see exactly which hose your talking about now. I felt up and down it, as well as the other hose I showed you, and didn't feel any wetness or cracking, but who knows. I did, however, notice a straight, rigid slit along the top part of this hose. Not sure if it's supposed to be that way or not. Could that be the cuase?

Sounds like the culprit, You didnt fix it yet, thought you did?
Have someone start your car and turn the steering wheel lock to lock while you have your hand on that slice...
You should feel some ps fluid leaking out....

Acutally, I went out and had a second feel around and I don't think that slit is really a slit. I think it's just a normal for that the hose. Plus it feels clean.

What I noticed, though, is that the hose you were talking about (the return hose) feels really dirty and gritty, so I bet there's a pinhole leak somewhere and that's the culprit.

Thanks again for the help.

In a word? No. I'm doing mine now and it is very easy to access everything from above when you remove the intake tubing. Not too easy to see what you are doing but you can feel your way through it easily enough. My difficulty right now is getting a replacement hose. Damned dealer parts counter is closed on a Saturday morning. Now I still have to wait until Monday morning unless I can find a working substitute at a regular car parts house.

You can use rubber transmission/fuel line, maybe 3/8" ID
for the meantime, it wont be Pre-formed like the OE
but if you dont kink it it can do for now if you have to
drive the car.......and you can change it later when you
get the correct one.....

The job is done and she runs great. No leaks. I called a few parts stores around here and they simply list 3/8" ID hydraulic hose as the replacement. Cost with new hose clamps was only about $2 and lots of cussin' while trying to push the line on the pipe ends. There is no kinking in the hose and I think it will be fine for some time to come. After the PITA it was to push the lines on (especially the lower one) I am in no hurry to make extra unneeded work for myself. First sign of trouble, however, I will be happy to put a pre-bent hose on her.
