Got the TPS adjusted today. No longer does a 3-4 hunt at 35 mph. & idles properly. First mechanical thing, besides rear brakes, I've had to do in the 3 years since OLD Tom did the rejuvenation. Still a car port queen - still semi-pristine.

Ron.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

I had a near meltdown with my 262,000 mile Pearlie, Thursday(?).
I was in The Burg and I looked down to see the water temperature needle into the RED zone!
Apparently the passenger side heater hose got a 1/4" long burst in it and that was enough to overheat the engine.
Instantly turned the heater to high and pulled over at the first parking lot.
Turned the key back to on to let the fans cool it down,
and drained my five year old battery to death in fifteen minutes.
Sigh!
Since then I replaced both heater hoses with just under 3 foot of 5/8" heater hose, new anti-freeze, (new starter as it was noisey)
Got a used Optima battery for like $40.00 from Advance Auto Parts, and installed it AFTER wire brushing the space it goes into, coating the bare metal with both RustFix, and after it cured Truck Bed Liner.
SO, THE LESSON IS, CHANGE YOUR HEATER HOSES NOW, BEFORE YOU BLOW UP YOUR ENGINE!
Thanks.

Gee Tom, I thought stuff like this only happened to me. Glad you got it fixed before you needed a head gasket

Me too!
It's hard to believe that a 1/4" long split in a heater hose came close to destroying my engine.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

After nearly a year of sitting idle, I finally re-registered my Laguna for daily driving as of the other day. You can imagine the feelings that came rushing back like rekindling with a long lost love after driving an econobox for the entire year and back to what I consider home, sweet home.

The engine went kaput in the Suzuki and I may be just parting ways with that instead of finding a replacement engine, keeping the Laguna as my DD and finding another SVX for what I've always wanted to do with mine in the first place (just a complete re-haul really for super reliable sexy fun time ) and eventually making the Laguna just a fun toy really.

Anyways...

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

I'm going to be honest...I've been "kind of busy" (no surprise being a Senior Nursing Student). Don't worry guys and gals the SVX still manages to get attention . I've done quite a bit of things in the past 2 months. Where should I start?!
Okay so I was in serious need of new shoes. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...0&l=866780b3e6
These $81 All-Season Lexani LX9100's gave me 21,387 miles.
Replaced by $112 All-season G-Max AS03's
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...1&l=cbbbdd0add
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...9&l=008c89f509
These have been amazing so far, very minimal sidewall roll.(PSI) 45F/43R
While I had the wheels removed I went ahead and replaced the Front drivers side wheel well which had been ripped for over 7 months.
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...7&l=0fcabe8124
New one vs Old one
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...4&l=abffdef8c7
After the install I had an alignment, the pic somehow was corrupted
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...7&l=a720f76056
Last week I removed the 3 wiper arms as the rattle can job from previous owner had started pealing
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...8&l=dec338e1f6
Winter was approaching so (being a poor college student) I purchased a can of plastidip and dipped them to inhibit rust. This is only temporary, come summer I will remove dip and sand and paint them
I went ahead and replaced the door lights from the white bulbs
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...8&l=0d95fcae33
to red T-10 leds.
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...1&l=6bf9c8bbf2
I'm in the process of switching all the lights in the interior to red
I also washed it yesterday given we are supposed to have a nice weekend above the 40's up until next Wednesday!
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...4&l=01567d8efe

That is it...for NOW!

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Did the 9005 headlight upgrade while home sick. Super easy. Big difference. Much better for my 50 + year old eyes. No one has flashed their brights yet so I don't think it is too bright for oncoming traffic.
