1992 low mileage SVX on BaT

This might set a new benchmark.

http://bringatrailer.com/listing/1992-subaru-svx-3/

37K miles, only driven in summer, completely unmodified. Nice!

Absolutely beautiful!! Interesting to note that the floor mats have the SVX script turned vertically as opposed to horizontally in U.S. models. I've never seen that before...

Those are the OEM Canadian-Spec floor mats. Back in 2005 I bought a set of Canadian-spec floor mats for the polo from Willowdale Subaru in Toronto, Ontario and they were the exact same way. I traded these to "Alltrac" for a new set of USDM beige mats.

Should have kept them but they just didn't look right... But the placement of the logo is much more logical from a wear standpoint.

Re: 1992 low mileage SVX on BaT

Hi Guys,
I haven't been here in almost 10 years, since I sold my last SVX.
I am the new owner of this SVX and I can't believe I found such a low mileage summer only car. More in a few weeks when it's back in Illinois.

Congrats on the purchase! Let us know how the import goes.

Re: 1992 low mileage SVX on BaT

It's the most I've seen one go for but it is a total beauty. Canadian car too eh?

Give it tons of TLC, it deserves it.

Yes give it lots of TLC.

I'd take those Potenza RE95 tires and put them in a safe place. When (If) these cars become the collector's item they are touted to become they will probably be worth as much as the car to anyone trying to get a 100 point concourse score.

I agree with this as well. In fact, it may be a good idea to simply get another set of wheels and tires and save these for show purposes, but not to be driven on the road due to age. I looked at the pictures and this is certainly a car that would show very well.

I also bought my current car last year after a ten year absence and, at 68K currently, I've so far done the transmission (it was bad when I bought it), fuel/air/oil filters, valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, brake pads/rotors/calipers and extensive detailing, to the point were the car now looks half-decent. However, you are doing far better than I am where rust is concerned. You may want to keep it garaged through Illinois winters; I've been avoiding driving in snow and try not to do too much in the rain. Low mileage cars do come with their own set of concerns. Nevertheless, congrats, the car is beautiful.

Re: 1992 low mileage SVX on BaT

So here we are in the USA

UPDATE:

Exporting wasn't to bad, had to get an appraisal from DEALER at the last minute
;( (KBB, Hagerty or BAT not good enough, even after paying way more...

All the other paper work was in order. Importing wasn't too bad either. 1/2 hour at the USA Detroit border at 1AM (smart, right ) There were a few officers at customs that actually knew what the car was.

The car needed to be detailed in a big way (clay the paint, remove tar, nice black pad foam polishing, SOAKED the leather at least 5 times (amazed it didn't crack), cleaned the Alcantara, Engine compartment, trunk hinges, Foam cleaned the A/C), but everything is in great shape. Floor mat logo (drivers) is fair at best.

Canadian cars don't have security and remote locks (will add remote locks for $30.00 in parts)

Already PDR'd a few dings, there are no nicks on the hood (AMAZING)

Owner DID put in a new battery after being scolded on BAT

I did pay top dollar ($6,789) plus BAT fees, however the car is as nice as I have seen in a long, long time, so I'm good with that. I hope it lasts as long as my last car (14 years from new).

My wife (all in) and I drove to Niagara Falls and home and the car ran flawlessly.

I couldn't be happier if I were twins. If anyone knows of a Stebro exhaust please let me know. (yeah, right). Mine went with the last car years ago (D'oh)

The Potenza's have 700 more miles on them from our trip and will be coming off soon.

They are in great shape, so I will be looking for wheels and tires (tyres) If anyone has any, please let me know or ideas for aftermarket. Many thanks and good to be back @ SVX.net.

Thanks! Good point about the tires too! I will put them away w/ the wheels. Wheels are perfect and even have OEM paint marks. Scubi will be living in Phoenix ~ free of Illinois winters
