Unhappy svx windshields

I'm considering buying a 94 model but a friend told me that windshields for these SVX's are extremely expensive ($2,000) and are almost non existent. This 94 needs one as it's the original with 150,000 miles on the car and is rather pitted. Any info on windshields and there availability would be appreciated.

Windshields are not that expensive. You should be able to get them at the dealer at around 800 and in the junk yard like any other windshield.

thank you

To Seraph and CigarJohnny:

Thanks for your replies but my local dealer quoted a new price of $1200 installed. There were 3 colors available........blue, gold, and green tint. For the above price, there also should be made available a leather (biege or perhaps tan) lined coffin for the customer who just died from shock at the price.

They've raised the price at subaruparts.com. They used to be around 800.00.

I recently (June) had one replaced

At that time it was $1080. Comprehensive insurance is a wonderful thing.

windshields aren't cheap for any subaru as far as I know, my mom needed a new windshield for her legacy l wagon and that ran for around 1000, insurance picked up the bill though

Does the rubber around the glass also have to be replaced? It looks as though the glass is attached to the rubber.

I just sold an SVX windshield the other day. It was about $900.00. No, the rubber is not attached to the glass, it must be purchased seperately.

As far as availability, SOA had about 50 blue windshields scattered around the country at various warehouses. I didn't check green or gold. As far as other Subaru windshields are concerned.......they all are pretty expensive.

p.s the production date on the windshield was early 2002. Nice to see they're still being made!!

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the info

Do you know if the rubber has to be replaced in order to replace the windshield?

WOW that's great that they are still making windshield for a car with limited production
Thanks

Dave
I just had a new windshield put in my XT6 a couple months ago, and it cost $230 installed, could have gotten the blue tinted one for $200, but wanted the correct bronze one.

But it wasn't from Subaru, to bad the SVX's windshield is Subaru only

That isn't true for brake parts. Raybestos pads and rotors are more than Subaru's OEM parts. That's with the 15% discount at Liberty,NJ or Subaruparts.com

well I guess I stand corrected on the exception. But come on, give me a break, any dealer for that matter has inflated prices.
