Auto seat belt issue

My '92's driver side auto seat belt doesn't retract/slide out of the way each time I open the driver's side door- does sometimes and always if I keep key in and turn ignition one notch.....Anyone know how to remedy this so retracts every time door opens, even when key is removed??...THANKS

Re: Auto seat belt issue

Good question. Mine does the same and acts up more when it's damp out. I've found that just placing the tip of the key in the ignition and rotating to make slight pressure does the trick.

My guess is some kind of ground issue due to wear in the ignition switch but I really have no basis for the idea.

Re: Auto seat belt issue

My '92 too. It's most likely corrosion in the belt switch itself. It's up near the anchor point I think. Mine is worse on rainy says but not bad enough to take it apart. There's always something else to fix that is more important.
