What do you guys think about this SVX?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/cp-g-...dbf#vi-content

I am considering buying it sight unseen and having it shipped back to NY. It is almost exactly what I have been looking for in a project car for me and the kids. It is a 1995 (newest possible OBD1) and it is Laguna Blue. It is also low miles and supposedly is corrosion-free. The only thing that would make it better is if it already had a 5 speed swap. Part of me wants to keep a car as an auto so everyone in our house (wife) can drive it and part of me would want to have a 5 speed so I could teach the kids how to drive one.

Re: What do you guys think about this SVX?

Looks and sounds great. There is one bid on it so far. Is it your bid? I would expect more bids as this winds down. Shipping will be expensive from Cali to CT. I have used a site called www.uship.com to ship cars and parts. You sign in, list your item you want shipped, and shippers bid a price, and you can decide which bid to accept, also your choice of how you want it shipped, closed trailer, open trailer, towed on trailer, even driven to you. Good Luck. I would do an interior transplant, dont care for the cloth seats and trim. If your going to have multiple svx's, then it would be good to have a 5-speed in the herd

Re: What do you guys think about this SVX?

Seems very nice, should be nice and rust free and pretty low mileage. I'm sure it will need some maintenance though, that is just to be expected with the SVX.

That would be great. The problem is that it ends soon.

On the seats, how hard isit to find decent leather seats?

Shouldn't be very hard. Seat covers are a lot easier to ship than seats. You still wouldn't have power, but it would be leather.

From what you can tell, how true to the original Laguna Blue does it look?

Re: What do you guys think about this SVX?

Tony,

The VIN JF1CX3351SH100524 and Carfax confirms that this is a FWD "L" Model.

I could have the Active Safety Group added (which would give you AWD and ABS) No way of knowing without crawling under the car and looking for a rear diff or driveshaft.

Color looks a little darker, but that could be the lighting.

Re: What do you guys think about this SVX?

Color looks right . I don't know if I would be too quick to Change the seats to leather. The cloth are much more. Comfortable. If u do go 5 speed it would be a good time to make it AWD if it is not. Already. BTW the 5 speed is Ausum .

It's says it is AWD in the ad's copy, although people can make mistakes.

It is all wheel drive. Carfax attached. The ad says that he is the original owner, but clearly he's not. The car was shown as being in dealer inventory at 16k miles.

It looks the same color that mine is. And without the terrible pinstripe that mine has.

If I had the money and I wanted another one, I'd pull the trigger on this one. That's very low mileage, and it should have one of the good transmissions. If you want it, go for it.

Re: What do you guys think about this SVX?

This does look like a good car. Leather seats are fairly easy to find/get, and you do have me just a couple hours away. Even if they're in ragged shape, you can take a seat to an upholstery shop and the price for fresh leather should be pretty good, especially if you take off the old seat cover yourself.

Re: What do you guys think about this SVX?

I am TORN! On one hand, it is almost exactly what I wanted. But my wife pointed out that, if we register the car when my son turns 16 we will have to get insurance for him as a full time driver. It is hard to say right now how much of a PITA it will be if he shares my car when he starts driving.

Nate,

I need to bring the car down to you soon. There are a couple of nagging minor issues that my mechanic is struggling with. I would do a lot more in the way of mods if the car wasn't a damn OBD2.

Well if that is your bid we are down to the last 40 min. When your son gets his driver license he will be on your insurance automaticall. Hard to say how insurance treats it . 2 cars 3 drivers , full time student.
