cannot open glove box door

The lock seems to work, but when I pull the latch, nothing happens. I'm hoping that I can get a pick or screwdriver at the latch and disengage it, but I'm flying blind as to where the latch mechanism is. Is it straight up from the door, or (I hope not), does it go horizontally towards a receiver like in my Accord?

If there is hope, and someone could post a picture that would be great. Thanks. It's a '92, fwiw.

It latches on the middle of the door on the top.
Unfortunately it looks like the magic takes place inside the door itself.
