struggling to reset c/e code

Just replaced an O2 sensor..had a 32 code and I tried both ways to reset the code:
1) placed both pins in upper left 1 and 2 pinholes, started car, shut car off, removed one pin and then turned car on but not starting it....to read the blinks.....error still there.

2) with pins removed , turned car on but not starting it, turned on headlights, then disconnected the neg. batt. cable.....and waiting about 30 secs.... then proceeded to turn lights off, take key out, connected batt. cable, stuck pin in second hole on upper left and proceeded to check the codes again.....no luck still old code in there.

I did let the car run until normal op temperature, but haven't driven it around yet.

Can someone tell me why this issue I cannot resolve?

thanks

Draining the system should take care of it, unless there is in fact still a problem.....

Pull the negative cable.
Turn the key to full on, but not start.
Turn on the headlights {only takes a second}.
Hook it all back up and check for codes.

This was the only way I could erase the codes on mine.

(also helps if the problem doesn't still exist)

Yes I did try this 3 or 4 times and didn't work.
I will try redlightningsvx suggestion leaving it disconnected overnight. I can't think of anything else to do.

Problem may not be corrected...

I left my battery disconected for a week and nothing eraced till I got the problem corrected. I had a 37 code, replaced the 02 and did not correct the problem.

After I got it corrected, tried the 2 blue wire thingie... did the battery disconnect thing...

Did the battery disconnect, turn ignition switch on but did not start engine as per instructions (how am I going to start the engine with the neg battery cable disconnected)

next step headlights!

Hope you get it worked out ok!

Keith

Battery disconnect is how I cleared my codes many times but sometimes, because of various conditions, some codes are harder to clear.

hahhahaha....... you so funny Joe.....Buy me drink.

Didn't say it would start, but meant to the full on position.
This will usually do the deal, because it forces the system to give up any residual energy to the headlights.
The advantage, is that you don't have to wait more than 1 second for it all to go away.

Welcome. I'm glad you got through it.
I'm sure we all hope it continues to run well.

Side note... Just met a local Mini Coop driver that used to hang around with a few SVX-ers a while back.

He recognized the car right away, and told me all kinds of "Old Timer" stuff about his experiences with our cars.
