Email me. I know a lot of people at the company that produce it. It's based out of Milwaukee. I'll forward your address to them.

Really wish that the car took off. Everyone who drives it loves it. It's practical, roomy, sporty, gets decent gas milage, everything you could want. Today though, it seems that everyone is buying 4door vehicles anymore, the 2door market is very niche it seems, only for the extreme sports cars, such as hte corvette, rx7, and other similar cars that the svx really can't compete with.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, we're all friends here! No need to take food off of MY table!

BTW, our dealership has Drive Performance Magazine lying all over the place. You could probably swing by the nearest Subie store and snag a free copy or two without too much hullabaloo.

Or, just pretend you purchased a $20K subscription to Drive Performance and they gave you a free car with it...

Meh, it failed for decent reasons: It had no manual transmission, and Subaru forgot the MAYA Theory of industrial design.

Maya= Most Advanced Yet Acceptable

Basically, if something is too far from normal, even if it is actually better, it will not be super successful in the marketplace. The fact it is so advanced will hold it back. This mistake has been repeated hundreds of times in automotive history, look at the Chrysler Airflow, the Stout Scarab, the dodge charger daytona, the studebaker Avanti, etc.

i think you'll find that autos outsell manuals by a wide margin in the U.S.

the SVX was a dud simply because nobody was prepared to pay over $30k for a Subaru at that time. and it was kind of weird-looking to most folks.

it would be like Kia trying to sell a $40k+ sport coupe with odd styling today.

Sure. And 4 doors outsell 2 doors. That doesn't mean all 2 doors are doomed. People who buy 2 doors generally tend to like things sporty, and a manual is generally more 'sporty' than an auto. I think if Subaru had offered a 5spd from the get go, the car would have been a lot more successful. Hell, my only reasoning NOT to buy my SVX was because it had an auto. I like rowing my own gears, but ultimately the incredible build quality, styling, interior, and engine won me over, despite the automatic.

Now, the only thing that's really holding me back from converting is ... pedal spacing. Every 5spd SVX I've seen has the clutch right next to the brake pedal, and I don't know why that is.

They should have offered a manual as an option, and also lower final drive ratio as an option for the 4EAT in it....

I thought the manual trans was gonna have weird pedal spacing, but tom told me to sit in his 6speed, and it really didn't feel off. Now i have a 5speed, and the spacing is as natural as any other manual trans i've driven.

No, it was ugly in an ugly duckling sort of way, that was different from everything else. This new one looks like a chrysler sebring/mazda 3/whatever else is boring.

It was a dead ringer for a baby camry from inception! Personally, the new not-a-wagon as wagons aren't cool hatchback is a poor imitation of the back end of a Focus with a little Lanos thrown in for styling (yeah the Lanos shares its design beginnings with our SVX)
