Will 225/55ZR16 tire fit on the SVX, what would be the difference?

Will 225/55ZR16 tire fit on the SVX, what would be the difference?

Have an opportunity to buy 4 Dunlop SP Sport 8000 225/55ZR16 tires for ~ $200
Would the width be wider or narrower?

Plus, what is the width of the stock rim? 8 or 8.5 inches?

Thanks.

The stock wheels are 7.5 inches wide. as far as the other tires go, they are not as wide as the factory wheels 225/50/16, so width won't be a problem but they might be a smidge taller than the 50's but I don't think that will be a problem. $200 is a great price for those tires, I had them on my Talon TSI, they're good tires. Just make sure you replace all four tires at the same time. If you run different sized tires on your SVX, it can cause the wheels to bind.

Your speed will be slightly off. You'll be going a bit faster than what's shown on the speedo, but not much.

Are these new or used tires? If they are used, make sure that the wear is the same on all of them and there isn't a big difference in any of them. If there is, it can cause more damage than the price of new tires.

I was running 33x10.5's on my truck and my speed was off by about 2mph at 80mph, and 33's are WAY bigger than the stock wheels on my truck. I wouldn't say that it would make much difference in speed though. You should have no problem fitting though.

By the numbers, yeh, about 83 real at 80 indicated. Of course, most speedos run low, so it will probably just push it to accurate!

How are stock 225's wider than these 225's? They will be slightly taller though.

225 - Section Width of tire
50 (55) - Height of tire (tread to wheel) as a percentage of width. so 225/50 has a height of 112.5mm and 225/55 has a height of 123.75mm.
16 - Rim Diameter

So theoretically these tires are as wide but 22mm larger diameter (11mm radius) . Although with differences between brands they could be almost identical.
