Best time of year to sell?

What's the best time of year to sell an SVX? Back when I worked for a car dealership, December and January was the worst time of year for car sales. That was 15 years ago. Is it still true now? I'm seriously thinking of selling my '92 claret with 105k miles (needs paint), but I'll wait til spring if it's better.

Advertise it on Craigslist. It costs you absolutely nothing so whether it sells or not you're not out any cash.

Right now I am parting out a Jeep Cherokee and actually sales haven't been too bad (except for the high dollar items like my bumpers and engine).

Here in Denver I have watched a few SVXs sell recently so it boils down to finding the right buyer... and not asking a ridiculous price.

Those are my observations.

Happy Holidays!

Ira

Does it need anything other than paint? I mean, if it's only the paint you can have it for a temporary winter car untill its more likely to sell in the spring

Well, I've got 3 SVXi right now, including a '95 LSi I picked up today, and the yard's getting pretty full, so one's got to go-

September-early november.

It's a 4wd or fwd subaru, and subarus are hardcore winter cars.

to add to sr240sx, AWD cars will generally be more in demand for the winter months, hence why you can realistically expect to get a better deal on RWD cars during the winter, I've noticed that Subaru's command a higher price during the winter months...

I would imagine that it would be roughly February/March...when people get their advanced tax refunds.

My vote would be for spring. I certainly wouldn't try to sell it in fall, or even now.

I base my recommendation, of course, on my own experience. I bought mine in October of '99, in Vermont (where Subarus are very popular), and I was able to dictate my terms entirely. I strung that dealership along for a month and they were begging me to take it from them.

It may be a Subaru, but people don't recognize it as one. Whether or not cold weather makes people want a Subaru, as was suggested above, I can't say. My guess would be that, if that was true, it would only be the case for specific areas like the northwest or northeast. At any rate, the SVX looks like a sports car, which most people aren't looking for in winter.

there's an svx at a dealership here in colorado that i desperately want. their price is set way to high even before the $399 dealer handling fee. so far it's been on the lot 23 days. i'm hoping your experience will be similar to mine in the next few weeks.

Bring it to the 15th Anniversary meet Dave. Maybe one of us will drive it home.

Look in the upper left hand corner for the city
