here's the thing. I sold this guy the car, i owned it for a year, and was also told from the previous owner that A: the car has always done this stall (bog) tranny deal, he's owned it since 94 B: he has NEVER removed the "fwd" fuse. and from experience i can say i used to do burnouts in the thing when i owned it, i guarantee with the fuse in, only the rear tires spin. i've sat there in a wet parking lot and lit up the rear tires. dont believe it? we will take a video next good wet night. i doubt the trans is going any time soon, it hasnt changed since 94, what would cause it to break now?? its the same. when it shifts from 1st to 2nd, it will drop in rpm @ WOT hold at that rpm (i forgot exactly what rpm it holds at) for approx. 1.5 seconds, then continue on like nothing happend. if i were to let off the gas for just a second, it wouldnt do this. i once had it looked at by aamco (very reliable sorce, let me tell you. lol) and they said it almost felt factory. like it was ment to be there. you can say all you want, that it is impossible to be rwd, but i've done burnouts, and donuts all day in that car. and the kid seen the damn rear tires spinning only on a lift. but if we must, we will take a video

Maybe a front CV is broken. Open diff in front would send torque to wheel with broken CV which would put no power down through the front tires, the rest going to the rear, making it rear wheel drive.

Had it happen to me in my wagon.

Doesn't explain the fuse though.

I'll move this to the tech section.

Yes that sounds like whats happened. You can tell by jacking up a front wheel, put it in park, and see if you can turn the wheel. If the front drive is still there, you won't be able to turn it. If the front drive has been removed, the wheel that is off the ground will turn.

Harvey.

The fuse could be blown? Does the indicator light up on the dash?

Could be a possible explanation, using Harvey's method to check may get to the bottom of this.

just picked up on this thread.
Is tranny original? perhaps you have a legacy tranny with an svx rear? miss matched ratios and all that. Might account for binding AND rear wheel spin.
Also, isnt there a rev limiter in the ecm that would explain an rpm drop at redline?

The drop isn't at redline it's after shifting.
Supposedly it's a more substantial drop than normal.

actually, its not really any more substantial than normal, its more of a drop, then hold. it will drop to where it normally should, but hold there for about 1.5 seconds. no matter how hard you push the throttle. he just has a hard time explaining things

Ok i got the car back, and i jacked hte front wheel up and it does not spin.

But now, i have a grinding type of noise as if i am grinding a piece of metal on a grinder. Not loud but it is there. and then when i slow down/hit the breaks this odd noise comes. Cant even describe it. This started yesterday when i got the car back from the shop that put in my wheel bearings
