To anyone that has done a 60k service on the svx, is 449.95 at a subaru dealership a good price?

What should I ask for? Should I bring my own redline atf or ask them to install a tranny cooler?

Questions.. questions...

Henry. Here's a link to the maintenance schedule, scanned directly from the service

manual.http://ia.yimg.com/a/65d42580/h/93bed9c5/Maintcom.jpg

The price actually sounds reasonable, if ALL of these things are done. However, you could wait 'til 90K for the timing belt, since CA law mandates that Timing Belts last for 100K. No, they don't make a special belt for California -- all timing belts should last for 100K.

As for the cooler, and ATF, yes -- may as well have them install the cooler (if they will) and if you're going to use Redline -- more than likely, you'll have to bring your own.

link not working?

Aredub,
I cannot access the link to that site. It says "Access forbidden from External Hosts."
I wanted to compare that to the service I had done recently, which normally costs $730 - but since I provided the parts, it was around $600. So Henry, that's a very good price as long as you trust them.

Hmmm. It did the same thing to me, Jalin -- okay, we'll do it the "hard" way. You'll need to go to the Yahoo club, access my profile, click "view my briefcase", click on my "folder" -- you'll find all kinds of "goodies" in there, including engine noise chart, general engine trouble shooting, maintenance schedule . . . and a few others. Be sure to bookmark it for later use, once you've checked through it.

Thumbs up

I just wanted to tell you guys that I feel really special today. I think I just went through puberty again, because I now have a member below my name! I no longer have a junior member. God what a relief! I was getting so tired of the pimples and the *ahem* inadvertant flag pole raisings. I rarely carry school books to conceal such things any more. However, the ratty old green robe does hide things like that nicely if I'm sitting down.

Dang I feel sooo good, I'm going to go and buy another bottle of likker!

Say Aredub, how does one become a senior master here? I was curious because years ago I worked at the dock, I was the kid that used to bait the hooks for the old folks, I was a young and inexperienced baiter. My boss told me that after several years of practice I could become a master. <G>

Just between you and me, you can go to "profiles" and call yourself anything you want - from "Weird Dude in the Green Bathrobe" to "Super Exalted Master Member".
Don't think they want that spread around though . . .

Glad to see you've made that "quantum leap" eddy! Congratulations! Was that a squeak I heard in your voice? . Senior Master Member is for those with over 400 posts Meanwhile, I have somewhat been demoted since my early days. In radio, I used to be a News Director. Now, I'm just a "Common Tater."

Believe me, you don't want to spread me around in my green robe. After spending six months sitting on my butt, I'm quite the sight.

HEY! How did you know my wife's little pet name for mr. happy? Has she been talking again?

Must be something about your business. My wife's neice was a producer for a local teevee station, they'd vigorously recruited her for a couple of years, and once her contract was up...you guessed it...see ya. I don't know the particulars, but it sounds like credit card company mentality to me. Don't make any effort to keep the people you have, but spend millions of bucks trying to get new people. I guess I couldn't be a buisinessman, that just sounds toopid to me!

Oh YEAH! I see nothing remotely close to common about you tater boy! I am curious though, when you got your senior master member, did you upgrade to a baker, rather than the *new* tater you had?

Ever been to a steakhouse called "Sizzler" -- 'member those taters that looked like they grew 'em on "Three-Mile Island?" I got me one o' them. It's a lot harder to keep in the front, though. Keeps stretching out the elastic in the ol' zebras. I got me one o' them baseball display stands to put my ol' tater on -- uh oh -- looks like the eyes have grown into sprouts. That's what happens when you keep a tater too long in a dark, damp environment. (Man, I'd better stop -- I could probably go on like this for days).

Sure, I've been to a Sizzler, don't have one here, but we had em in Montana. I don't recall a huge tater there though, but it's been many years. You're starting to scare me though, if it's a damp environment, one word....DEPENDS.

And that by god better be sour cream on that there tater on yer display stand.

Something interesting I noticed when they called me early in the morn and told me what their 60k service entailed was

inspecting and repacking the wheel bearings if necessary.

Nothing else really stick out in my sleepy mind.

Henry, yes we can. Go to your profile (click profiles at top of page), in your profile, there will be several buttons at the top of your profile page. One of them will be "Personal Briefcase." You can upload pic files there.
