Help my car stops??

I have a problem whit the car. A month ago the knock sensor and the O2 sensor came up on the engie fault codes. and i have replace the knock sensors and build a new exhaust system and replace the O2 sensor. (all OEM parts). Its a exhaust shop that have build the systems.

Before i replace the exhaust, i drive the car to the shop. And in crusing speed the engie cuts (like its not getting anny fuel) like 2-5sec some times. And the check engine light came on and i read the ecu. And then the O2 sensor came on. (the knock sensor hase been repalced the day before). But i also got a new code the water temp sensor. And after the shop was done whit the car.

I pick it up on a trailer and drive it home. When i should drive the car on the trailer the engine stops. And the same thing happen this morning. I drive out of the driveway and the engine stops. I have try to read the ECU and only the water temp sensor is show there.

So what is the next to look at?

Re: Help my car stops??

MAF (mass air flow ) it does something similar to what the old choke did on a carb engine. Measures the Air Flow. It send a signal to the computer to regulate gas flow/ air mix. I know I will get flamed for this answer.
Inside there is a wire like a toaster filament. It is heated. Depending on how cold or how fast the air flows through determines the heat of the wire and this is how the computer knows what to do. If the wire is loose or broken it will cause the car to shut off. With the motor running tap on the air cleaner with the back of a screwdriver.

It's very easy to repair the one you have. At least worth a try - they are not cheap. Search for re-solder maf, there's a "how to" pdf.

Re: Help my car stops??

Brought mine in the shop for the same problem. The machanic ordered the rebuilt MAF before consulting me. He would not repair the old one and would not wait til I found a used one $ 450 later my car runs better than it ever did.
