Upgrade JDM to NZDM

My daily driver SVX was built for the Japanese market but was registered first in NZ, unlike many JDM cars here which were imported second hand from Japan.

I also have a car built new for the New Zealand market which I drove for the first time recently and noticed an interested feature that I want in my daily driver.

The NZDM has a 260km speed, but the JDM has 180km speedo.
Also the NZDM will allow cruise control to be engaged above 110km, whereas the JDM won't engage cruise above 110km.

I'm interested in swapping the 260km instrument cluster and any associated computers across into my JDM car.

Can anyone tell me exactly what parts have to be swapped over or even if this is likely to work.

The JDM has 4WS which the NZDM doesn't have, so need to preserve that along the way.

Re: Upgrade JDM to NZDM

Shane there are a couple of members here who have swapped this over in the USA - it is not trivial

Also check with scoobymal in the UK also as he has done a lot with the "re-programming issues".

Looking forward to seeing you on the 29th.

Re: Upgrade JDM to NZDM

I swapped over the whole instrument cluster and found the speedo worked, but the tacho didn't work.
So I disassembled each cluster and swapped over just the speedo part.

Now my JDM has a fully functional 260km speedo.

Cruise still stops at 110 km, probably a good thing seeing as the speed limit here is 100 km
