security system problem

I can't seem to get my alarm system to go in to program mod so I can program a key fob. I have the original paper work and I'm sure I'm doing the procedure right but it won't enter program mode. Any advise?

Re: security system problem

The part where you push the security button over and over - try doing it at a different speed, probably faster. I think the buttons get finicky over time, and don't register every press. So you just kind of have to keep trying until you get lucky.

You're following this procedure, more or less, right? http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/showthread.php?t=58773

Re: security system problem

Yea I've done it that way. I even unhooke the battery to see if it would reset. I turned the alarm on and test it to see if it works and it does. I'll try to clean the contacts on the security button

Re: security system problem

That helped and I got it to work! Thanks dude. Does anyone know the difference between the two button remote and the single button remote?

No difference. I have had replacement remotes from Keylessride with one and two buttons. Each successive press of the any button locks and unlocks the doors and arms and disarms the security system.

It does not have a separate signal for locking and unlocking like the newer cars.

Congrats on fixing it. The 2 button remote works the same in the SVX as the 1 button ones. After a while, they switched to the 2-button one, so it would be the same part as the legacy, just with a different sticker on top. The SVX security module responds to both buttons the same way - locks if unlocked, unlocks if locked.
