Re: a few weird lil issues

The flashing power light indicates there is a transmission fault code stored... Go to svx-iw.com and pull up the how to check TCU codes in the svxipedia section. This may or may not be related to the awkward shifting you are experiencing but it may be a good place to start. My money is on the TPS sensor being faulty or out of adjustment.. Let us know what the code tells you

Gee, sounds like someone got up on the wrong side of the bed? My power light flashes occasionaly but the car runs great to the tune of at least 40,000 miles a year. I seriously just suggested it may not matter. Was a suggestion and didn't realize you had some kind of an arrangement on this form that you just submit a Thread, and everyone just hangs out waiting for you to call their name before they can respond?
Can't be just an austrailian thing. Harvey is certainly not that way

If I should try to give some input in the future on one of your Threads, please disregard it. It might happen unintentionally, because I am sure I won't remember your name.
bye

Well an electrical noisy Throttle position sensor will cause the down shifting that you have. I would get a new one as a second hand one may be just as bad.

Harvey.

There is information within the How TOO section regarding testing and cleaning the TPS. You are involved with a quite expensive item and this would be a sensible initial approach.

You report an intermittent problem which could mean a patch of dirt on the resistive plastic TPS elements. However this could also mean a very short term missed contact, which will be hard to detect with a meter which has slow registration. A meter with a bar graph, or an oscilloscope will provide an absolute test.

Re: a few weird lil issues

I'd start off with the basics and adjust the TPS to .5 volts at idle. There is a write up in the "How To" documents. I had a similiar problem that was corrected by adjusting the TPS. If that doesn't work then try further testing the sweep of it and cleaning. If that doesn't work, then I guess it's time to get another.

But then I'm, a cheap & lazy bastard... I always try the free fixes first.
