i'd take a Pioneer AVIC nav unit over that Bose junk any day.

I'm going with the AVIC-D3. I wish it had an adjustable tilt setting, but that only comes on the $2300 model.

one thing you might want to consider is how low the stereo is in the SVX - i don't think i'd want to take my eyes off the road to look down to check the nav.

Shouldn't be too much of a problem. I don't need nav very much, any time I REALLY needed it (say going to Reading 9....), I would probably just pull over and go over several turns/checkpoints.

I want the AVIC largely for the big double DIN screen. I barely use CD's at all, most of my music in on my iPod, so I don't need a cubby hole under a single DIN unit, and I don't really like the "unused space" look. The models with the fold out screens seem to interfere with the climate controls, and since the radio is recessed fairly deep into the dash I don't know if the screen could even go fully vertical.

I have an AVIC-D2 (last years) in mine. Not exactly and easy fit, but it got in there. The door does not move perfectly, but it opens and closes well enough. Broke the insert trying to make it fit - anyone have another one to sell?

There is a extra hole in the Pioneer harness plug on the D2 (not sure if it's there on a D3), get a pin and wire, then ground it. You can then use all the functions of the NAV while moving.

If you get the TV tuner, install the antennas inside the trunk-lid (it's not metal). Thats the only way to keep them out of site and get any kind of reception. The window glass seems to really block the signal, so the trunk is the way to go.

Don't under any circumstances get a D2!!!! The Ipod interface is totally useless. When I have some more cash I am planning to swap it for a newer one.
