Can any of the site creators explain the following:
1.) Does this site have briefcases (Like the Yahoo club site) or something similar where I can place pictures or text items? If yes, where and how do I do it? 2.)How do I add info to the calendar? 3.) Is there a general photos section on this site where pictures can be posted? If so, where & how. 4) The data base seems to search the messages on the Yahoo club site. If the Yahoo site dies or goes away does that mean that the database goes kaput or are you storing all the messages somewhere? 5.) The Links section is rather small. I suggest that the important links ( CDA Subaru, Kinetic Concepts, Japanese sites, etc.) on the Yahoo club site be copied and put into the links section on this site. Thanks for listening. I think that the "Founders" of this site have done a great job. Larry III |

Larry,
1.) Does this site have briefcases (Like the Yahoo club site) or something similar where I can place pictures or text items? If yes, where and how do I do it? No, Larry, no briefcase. Generally you would post your pic or whatever right here in your post, but, in respect for those who are still using modems, the IMG (Image) code is turned off. You can, however, post a link to your Yahoo briefcase within your post. 2.)How do I add info to the calendar? When you click on the calendar, you'll notice a "Private Event" button in the upper righthand corner. Click that to add your info. 3.) Is there a general photos section on this site where pictures can be posted? If so, where & how. Again, no "general photos" section -- see explanation in item #1. 4) The data base seems to search the messages on the Yahoo club site. If the Yahoo site dies or goes away does that mean that the database goes kaput or are you storing all the messages somewhere? Are you speaking of the database on the "Home/News" page? Yes, that has been specifically set up (thanks sith) to store and search Yahoo messages. SIth tries to keep it updated and he stores it on his own equipment. IF yahoo dies, it will still be there and contain the messages that Sith has downloaded to the point it dies. To search THIS board's messages, you must click the "search" button at the top of THIS page, or at the top of the page of any given forum. 5.) The Links section is rather small. I suggest that the important links ( CDA Subaru, Kinetic Concepts, Japanese sites, etc.) on the Yahoo club site be copied and put into the links section on this site. As has always been the case, this is a perpetual work in progress. We wil be adding links as the site grows and progresses. Since you are the first person to even "mention" links, we'll look at adding some (right Chris?). Also, I believe, once things have grown, FAQ's will be added into the chat function (someone correct me if I'm wrong). The way I undrestand it, you can "ask the Bot" and he'll answer a question. So, you see, we're still growing. Meanwhile, let's keep on helping this board evolve into the penultimate SVX owner's site.

Hello, Mr. Webster
Uhhhh, Randy, I think penultimate means "next to last". Is that what you mean, really?
ultimate = last, final penultimate = next to last antepenultimate = the next to next to last

Re: Hello, Mr. Webster
Quote:
William Safire (NY Times Bk Rev., 7 June 1981) reported instances in American newspapers of penultimate erroneously used to mean 'ultimate, final', as if the element pen- simply added emphasis to the adjective ultimate. I have another from the Chicago Sun-Times, 23 Nov. 1988: 'These are the penultimate in quality scarves,' she said [to a customer]. 'Well, then, show me the better line,' [the customer cruelly said]. 'This is the better line', she responded. One can but hope that the word can maintain its true meaning in the decades ahead. See penult. So, considering that you HAD to bring this to the attention of the masses, who, more than likely would not have been privy to the "pure" intent of the word, I must explain, that as an "advertising" writer, I consider it my right and priviledge to continue to "bastardize" the English language as I see fit.

Chris is working on a Pics section for all the members .. you would have your own "footlocker" to store pics.. So yes it is going to happen..

This gives me a perfect opportunity to post my way of navigating this site. It's fast, quick, speedy and redundant.
From the Home/News page (if you arrive there) click on "Forum" You'll be on the "Subaru SVX "NETWORK" home page. Click "view new posts" (all of the threads with posts added since your last visit will pop up) Click the "down arrow" on the post you want to review (this will take you to the last post in the thread - you may need to scroll back a bit) Read the added post(s). And make any replies. Once finished . . . Scroll back to the top and click on "Subaru SVX "NETWORK" This will take you back to the "Home" page. Click on "view new posts." This will, once again, show the threads with posts added since your last visit with the exception that the post you just left will have a "closed" envelope. Repeat this procedure until all your "envelopes" are closed (or, at least, all the ones you wish to review are closed) Once you're finished, return to the "NETWORK" home page. Scroll to the bottom and click "Mark all posts read." Then, minimize your window. Come back after a while and hit "Reload" or "Refresh" and see if any of the boxes have turned yellow. If so, click "view new posts." to bring up the threads with new posts. It sounds like a long, drawn out process, but, it isn't. This is a very easy board to use, once you've spent a little time with it.

I agree - it doesn't take me more than a minute to log on, see what posts might interest me, skip the ones that don't, and move on. Sounds a little complex in the telling, but in practice very easy and a big improvement. The key is to spend just a LITTLE time!
