Possible new addition-Honda Nighthawk 650

A guy I work with is thinking of selling his 83 Nighthawk and I've been dying for a Triumph Bonnie or a Fuji Rabbit (which will never happen according to the boss). He wants $600 for it. It has a rebuilt front fork and rebuilt carbs as of last year. I used to own a CB650 but this from what I've read is fairly different. Hydro lashers, shaft drive, etc... Anybody have any knowledge on these older Hondas? I'm not really looking for anything but a couple 100 miles a year out of it. Just need another choice in the am.
