Glass needed

Would anyone have the glass for the upper part of a driver's door they would want to sell? Not the powered glass but the fixed glass above it.

Thanks

Don

Unhappy Back looking for drivers upper glass again...

Mike Yach....bless his heart....sent me off just the piece of glass that I needed....and don't you know the good folks at UPS reduced it to powdered silica.

Thanks again for all your work Mike, and I hope they honor your insurance on it.

Well, back to square one.....someone else replied to my first post by PM, but unfortunately I deleted it when Mike replied first. If you are still out there, I'd appreciate you dropping me a post.

Don if they balk at paying we can come up with one I think. Granted it is still on the door and I don't have a clue how to get it off but will give it a shot.

A pane in the glass

Thanks Benebob!

Mike used some kind of wire to remove the glass....I have no idea how it is/was done.

Are you out there Mike? (tap-tap)

Did UPS pay you yet?

Does this happen to be for a Liquid Silver car???

If so, that is the color of the door that Ben is offering the glass from... Wouldn't that be sweet and easy

Glass removal tool

I have one of those and it cost close to $50 including shiping, I'd spend it again in a heart beat, especially if you have an entire car or more to pull the glass out of.

Hey guys.

Yeah UPS paid up after a bit of squabbling. At one point they actually were requesting that I show them a reciept of how much I paid for the window. (it's off a parts car, idiots!) As if everything that's shipped through them has a reciept. Ever heard of Ebay?

But as far as removal, yeah, I used a system like the one Napa is suggesting. Pretty much a glorified piano wire with a handle on either side, and you just saw back and forth for awhile. One thing to be careful of is the blackened border that is painted on the inside of the glass. The wire will put some good scratches in the paint if you're not mindful of it, and those will show up wonderfully from the outside. So as you're sawing, just keep the wire tension more toward the actual door than the window. Hard to explain here, but you'll understand when you get there.

good luck!

-mike

Glad to hear that UPS finally got down to paying you Mike. I'm sorry you went through all that work for me and it didn't make it through. Thanks again...

Don, I'm gonna go to a local yard and try to recover the glass for ya tomorrow. The door is silver so I'm assuming that would mean it is a blue??? tint? Not sure what the original was for ya but does this matter? Let me know ASAP so I don't pull it and then have ya not want it.

Tint

If it has an aftermarket blue tint, I'm afraid that wouldn't match.
Mine has a faint greyish tint, if anything.

I'm getting confliciting info..

...about blue and bronze tints. To make it more complicated, my wife and I are leaving on a scheduled mini-vacation tommorrow. Benebob, if you haven't removed the glass yet....don't, until I can get back to you. If you have already removed it, I'll go ahead and buy it from you, and if it doesn't match I'll just resell it.
Thanks!

Don

Slight incident with the one glass. It kinda broke. We still have another door at home. It is again from a silver one so it has the blusish factory tint. We'll wait to hear from you upon your return. Have a great trip!
