I think it is factory rust proofing, or something like that.

u sure thats not just dirt caked on? i dont know if it came with undercoating, but if you were interested, you can buy cans of rubberized undercoating. it sprays out brown though, so its a bit of a suprise when you start spraying, but it dries black. we use that on frame rails on trucks when i detail cars at work. clean it up real good, and spray, just enough for an even coat. good stuff.

I was making a pun. That is a good .5" of oil and dirt that covers the underside of my car due to the retards who used rtv on the rubber vcg gaskets! I hope it was someones first day. Oh, and it was done at a dealership! Crawling under this car is nasty.
Thanks for trying to provide useful info though. I appreciate it when others are helpful cause each guy knows something that the next guy doesn't.
