What did you get your better half for Xmas?
I'm kinda looking for ideas. Normally, I have ZERO problems buying for my gf, but we both promised not to spend over 25 bucks on each other since we're both saving for a spring break trip to Key West.
Suggestions? I have a few ideas... - Ca$h |

Perfume, those scented bath lotions, clothing where the size doesn't have to be exact (sweater, hat, scarf, bathrobe), a potted plant (tulips are nice this time of year, but they need to be not blooming yet). Stuffed animals are nauseatingly cute, you can say it's to have something to hug when you're not there, same thing goes for a fuzzy blanket. Fancy chocolates... I'm running out of ideas here. If you know the person's interests/hobbies it's easier. If you want to be cute, get her pet a toy too (hey, it's cheap and she'll think you're sweet).
I want a cactus for christmas, but I don't think I'm getting it. |

The best advice I can give you may not help you in the short term. I try to pay attention to stuff my wife likes and then go back later and pick it up. I also know about the things she's always wanted.
Or, go out and browse. Pick something out. Sure, there's a chance she won't like it - but there's also a chance that she's going to say, 'you know, this isn't something I would have picked out for myself, but I really like it. You're a total stud.' I try to find unique things. CDs and gadgets are okay, but not personal. Try handmade stuff. You live in a college town - you've got to have galleries and shops of all sorts. BTW, I don't think I'd ever give my wife an appliance as a gift. I don't like what it suggests. It's very different, I guess, if your wife (or girlfriend, or whatever) is really into cooking and likes to have nice tools. Although, that KitchenAid mixer is damned nice. And that blue is the best color for it.

ok well, if you both decided on only spending 25 bucks then start with this. flowers are always nice, do you know her favorite kind? if you don't buy roses in her favorite color, if you don't know that, then you are a bad boyfriend. stuffed animals are always nice, then just add in the card that you buy...one you spend time picking out, a little note that says, now you can sleep soundly because i am with you always or something corny like that and spray it (edit:the stuffed animal) with your cologne. if that doesn't work for you, is she allowed to have any pets, like a rabbit or a fish...a nice fish...with a cute tank? how about you sit down a write a poem, girls are suckers for that one. a nice thing to do before christmas is take a thermos of hot chocolate and take her in your car and cruise around town looking at the christmas lights at night. try to find streets that are full of nice ones, she'll like that too. just think of something simple that may mean a lot to her, that would be the nicest thing you could do. make sure you put the reason why you chose the certain thing in the card, so that she will understand your logic. good luck
Kelli
