wheel bearing failure

BOTH of my front wheel bearings went out today, not a pretty sight.

How can you tell when a front bearing goes? What are the symptoms?

Both front wheels will be pointing the opposite way. That's what happened to mine.

were your bearings grinding/howling for awhile? Seems odd for them to "let go" out of nowhere...
