Dual intakes with hydra.

So I'm curious, there are quite a few hoses that are connected to the stock intake. If I were to run two separate intakes what hoses would need to be connected to what?? also, would it be more beneficial to do this than to just do a single intake like the tomyx???

Re: Dual intakes with hydra.

There'd be some benefit only if you felt the engine wasn't getting enough air with the current set up. Plumbed right, you could get some ram air effect at higher speeds.

Re: Dual intakes with hydra.

I could be wrong here since its been a while since I've owned an SVX with an complete engine bay, but I was thinking there's nothing connected to the accordian pipe except the MAF. If thats true then you just run one pipe to each throttle body, put a filter on the end and stick them where you want em. Again I havn't seen one in a while so Im not sure, but if nothings on the accordian pipe, which I can't think of anything that would be before the throttle bodies, then whats on the intake manifold shouldn't make a difference.. right?

Re: Dual intakes with hydra.

Well, there are the seven hoses that attach to the bottom of the plastic bit right off the throttle bodies...

The question is, what would the benefit of dual intake lines be?

Twice the surface area of the filters to pull air in through... I am still working on finishing my twin intake set up the only thing I had to do was put a small K&N air filter directly on my IAC. So there are zero hoses running to either intake pipe...

This can still be done with a larger single filter, which is much smaller than a whole additional intake line and second filter.

Just to know, how much additional filtering surface is necessary?
