Cool Re: Facebook

Yup - SVX Nation is the old Yahoo site with pretty pics, & no addressable data base. As mentioned previously, it appeals more to the broke "kid" who found a 500 dollar SVX to "fix up". Not at all useful in the long run, which is why I still drop in here, although much less often. Face it, there are fewer surviving SVXes, AND older members than were out there 10 years ago. AND I'd bet most folks here have SVXen of the garage queen variety, thus require less monthly "fixin" than the daily driver type. Anyway, Chris, count on me to help ($) the site whenever you announce what you need. Cheers, Ron & Ripimoff Industries.

Re: Facebook

It's very important to keep this forum going. A lot of use use FB because it is more interactive. It's just the world we live in. Often for things that are complicated, this forum is searched and pasted for give direct answers to what people want to ask. It is very important for this to remain for the long run for these cars.

Re: Facebook

This forum is a high value resource for dedicated SVX people. Without doubt, this is the go-to place for SVX.

Facebook group, my experience: *HARK*

* I got warned(!) when an admin interpreted my bushing-project as a group buy. Apparently, group buys are not good for admin business?

* For good and bad, all content is moderated (by admin approval)

* People give 150 likes to a stanced showcar, 5 likes when someone has done a major job to keep their car alive. So that's where the focus is.

* Nearly unsearchable. But that's not really a problem because 98% of the posts are completely uninformative.

That said, there are some good and nice people there, who do quality posts. All in all, a proper Facebook group could work as a "daily" and then this forum is the real resource.

I have been trying to find who started the other SVXWN Face book site to work with them to be able to link to it. No luck so far.
I saw that and msged you right away. I'm not sure what happened. I'm on both here a little bit. I go to bf for the now stuff and then this site for and research.

Re: Facebook

I do not participate in FB. It's an inch deep and a mile wide. There's no depth. At my last job (13 years at the public library, best job i ever had!) i was astonished at the wasted time by well paid people who should know better.

I've been with you guys for a long time, that's my neon sign on Earls avatar. Did I drift away a bit, sure. My 17 year love affair with the red '94 ended, and I missed everything about the SVX and this group. A search, an internet buy without PPI, resulting in relearning a lesson about due diligence, much $ later and a black '97 now graces the garage. It's a DD in the summer, but I retired a year ago and just don't run around like the old days. Winter, it's a forest of cat beds over its cover.
Sorry, I rambled didn't i? I'll get out of the way now.

This site, these people, the camaraderie that's always been here, you never see it elsewhere. Here, not FB, is where I learned about the power steering O ring, the wonkie fuel level sender, wheel bearings (!) almost everything I know about this car.
You'll find me here, not FB.

Chris, when you know what's what money wise, I'm good for something....let me know.

This forum has helped me immensely over the years. Even though I no longer have any SVXs, I still drop in from time to time to see what's new. I hope to have another SVX again in the future.

SVX Nation Facebook page.

Also, I got "warned" today because of my language. I wrote:

"Mind you, this is the parts car. No idea how my driver looks...down there."

This is not the first time my humour leads to a warning. So I'm strongly thinking about just leaving that group due to the sensitive souls that inhabit it, and just ask my trivial questions here.

Re: Facebook

Wow, deleted your posts. My perception is that the Facebook Group was primarily set up by Jamie Price to enhance his on-line business. Since his domestic melodrama, there seems to be little effort there and he posts nothing except renderings from some video game. Josh Bettencourt seems to be a pretty good guy and is knowledgeable. He helped me work through concept issues on the rear brake upgrade, by private message, rather than through the SVXNation group. There appear to be a couple of other knowledgeable folks, but I'm not sure what is really knowledge and what is bluster. A lot of talk of 3-D printing and custom stand-alone EMS. Don't really know what is real and what isn't. A lot of totally unrealistic aspirations for engine upgrades. Most of those guys don't realize that there is only a limited advantage that can be gained with bolt-ons. NA engine horsepower is expensive, much more expensive per marginal horse than forced induction horsepower.
