Question - Rear boot light switch ?
OK - so my rear boot light burned out a while back and today I decided to swap it for an LED one (T12 type).
It slotted in without any issues (nice multi-led type), but noticed that the lamp cover had gone brittle and burned a hole in the semi-clear cover.....this got me thinking, so after I replaced the bulb, I closed the boot lid and I then opened the rear seat back ----- the light was still on in the boot. That is why I have had to change 2 batteries in 2 years!!!! So my question is - where is the on/off switch for the boot area light ??? TIA

Full SVX bra (only used for shows). Koni adjustable inserts fitted inside OEM strut body, Zoom lowering springs (2" lower), OEM headlight washers fitted.

It may be a "Tilt" switch? in the trunk lid....though, no more than I use the light in the trunk, I'd just remove the bulb....but I always hated dealing with electrical issues.....

My '92 Claret had the same problem. The battery would go dead if I left the car for more than 5 or 6 hours. I found out one day when I put a pair of skis in the trunk with the seat down. I didn't do any trouble shooting, just removed the bulb.

There is some sort of tilt actuation switch or circuit here. I just tested it in my totally dark garage. I folded down the rear seat, pulled the trunk release lever, and lookedback into the trunk. No light. I went to the rear of the car and raised the unlocked trunk lid ever-so-slightly and the light came on. Lowered it down to almost locked and the light went out. We are only talking about lifting it up about 1/8" or so. .

thanks for the wiring diagram, I also have the same manual. Check out the last page of that manual ( manual is called section 6) - the last page shows a connector that is at the end of a wiring loom in the trunk, will check it out later today.

Mate it's in the lock section of the boot, where the boot locks down, have a look there, see a white lever, just press it.

Harvey, that makes a lot more sense. Thanks for your keen observations about things that just escape our attention. A simple spring-actuated device makes the most sense. Open circuit (no power) when the trunk lid is closed and a closed circuit to the lamp when the trunk is open. .

Now fixed - thanks again for the quick response.
Mine appeared to have gotten grease between the contacts causing continuous open circuit and hence light staying on.
