How do you adjust the hood and trunk cable?

My trunk cable doesnt work unless a jam something under the lever, while I go to the back and open it. The same is happening with the hood cable. I need someone to hold the lever down, while I open the hood. Is there a way to adjust these cables? Zip ties maybe?

Shot in the dark here but, did you try cleaning and lubricating the latching mechanisms? I know on my legacy the grease was dirty and some parts got rusty. This inhibited the free motion of the latch and prevented it from fully entering to the open position. You can also try loosening the rubber bump stops to create some spring lift action when you pop the hood/trunk.

Thanks Michael, but the cable seems to be stretched. They move freely.
