Randomly cutting out?

As I drive down the highway, or anywhere really, my car will randomly drop a cylinder or two. It's like either it retards timing or completely loses a bank of cylinders.

Runs like dog ass, sometimes revving it up by putting it in neutral and holding the gas to the floor brings it back to life, other times I have to totally restart it.

No idea what's going on, replaced the ignitor and still no change. Connections are all fine.

ideas?

Re: Randomly cutting out?

Re: Randomly cutting out?

MAF is broken. Try to test with a known good one. Cleaning might fix it.

Re: Randomly cutting out?

Dang, well you're the second person to suggest that. Kinda sucks I dropped 70$ on it two months ago and now it's out of warranty it's broken.

I'll mess with it tomorrow and see if I can replicate the issue while it idles. I do have a good maf on my new parts car. Thanks guys!

Re: Randomly cutting out?

tapped on it , didn't act up but I'll take it out and swap it with my other good maf. next on my list are crank sensors.

Re: Randomly cutting out?

So, found that I'm randomly losing cylinder #1 as well, going to swap crank sensors and see if that solves THAT issue. Then I'll swap MAF's and see if that clears up my cutting out issue.

Thanks for the advice guys and ladies!

Re: Randomly cutting out?

The faulty MAF can be easily fixed if you're interested. There's a how to on resoldering it on this forum.
